HOW TO IMPROVE BODY LANGUAGE FOR GOOD IMPRESSION

Body language is just about any manner, gesture, or posture that conveys meaning to the observer. Body language is especially meaningful in an interview as your interviewer will be paying as much attention to nonverbal cues as to what you have to say. You can IMPROVE BODY LANGUAGE in simple ways just by following the below points.

Preparing good answers for common interview questions is a great way to appear qualified and confident. But, it is also important to get the message across to the interviewer that you are trustworthy and fully capable of doing the job. However, what you say during a job interview will comprise only part of your message. The rest will come from your body language.

Tips to Improve body language

  1. FIRM HANDSHAKE: A firm handshake is the first thing you do when you enter the room but don’t get carried away. You don’t want to become awkward or worse painful for the person. You’ll likely come across rude or aggressive.
  2. OPEN BODY POSTURE: Be relaxed but don’t slouch. Sit upright and place your hands by your sides.
  3. MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT: Proper eye contact is very important.it shows the interviewer that you’re engaged and sincere.
  4. NOD WHEN REQUIRED: Leaning forward slightly to show your enthusiasm and nod when required tells the interviewer you’re understanding and ready to work on bettering yourself.
  5. SMILE: Always keep a warm smile on your face.
  6. APPEARANCE: Make sure you wear formals and avoid going to an interview in a t-shirt and Pyjamas. You’re going for a professional meet make sure your appearance is up to the mark.
  7. BE CONFIDENT: Confidence is the key like I always say.

BODY LANGUAGE MISTAKES YOU SHOULD AVOID IN AN INTERVIEW

  1. Avoid nervous body language like repeatedly crossing and uncrossing your legs or arms, touching your hair, clothes, or face, scratching your head.
  2. Don’t do anything your interviewer might find annoying, like playing with a button or pen.
  3. Bold gesturing is also to be avoided.
